A group of eighteen Estonians from the Baltic islands of Saaremaa , Hiiumaa and Muhu visited The Isle of Mull in early June to learn about sustainable energy projects, community development, local government, food production and tourism enterprises on Mull.
Scottish Island Federation Chair Camille Dressler who planned the 4 day programme said afterwards: “Our Estonian guests seemed very impressed by the enterprising people, businesses and communities they visited, as well as the beautiful scenery of Mull. The Scottish Islands Federation thanks all concerned at Argyll and Bute Council, and everybody who shared time with the Estonian delegation. They really valued and enjoyed their time on Mull.”
Saare County Governor Kaido Kaasik said: “It has been inspiring to meet such a variety of people all working to build businesses and more resilient communities to help ensure a good quality of life for everybody into the future. Our strong local LEADER Group would welcome people from Mull to visit Estonia to see how our islands are working towards sustainability.”
