Lake Hjälmaren in Sweden is renowned for its high-quality pike-perch (zander), locally known as gös. The lake, particularly noted for its certified sustainable pike-perch fishery, offers excellent fishing for this predator, which is a popular local delicacy. 

  • Sustainability and Quality: Lake Hjälmaren was the first inland fishery in the world to be certified as sustainable to the MSC Fisheries Standard. The pike-perch, sometimes referred to as “Hjälmargös,” is known for its white, juicy, and tender meat.
