Vanuatu hit by cyclone

Relief workers report “unbelievable destruction” after a tropical cyclone smashes the capital of Vanuatu.

ESIN expresses its deep sympathy with these islands, despite the distance not so unlike us. Vanuatu, formerly known as the New Hebrides with a quarter of a million inhabitants on 80 islands, is one and a half the size of the European Outer and Inner Hebrides where there are some 46,000 inhabitants on 60 populated islands.
